You know you’re getting old when you hear NCSoft and instantly think of Lineage.
Yet, Throne and Liberty keeps grabbing the attention of MMO lovers, even if it had its own rollercoaster ride on the hype train. But today, March 6, 2025, the “Wilds of Talandre” expansion drops, promising to revitalize the game. But is it enough to win back those who left?
Talandre: The new zone that will make history (or fill chat with rage quitters)
Let’s start with the basics. Talandre is the brand-new area in the heart of Solisium, packed with demons, secrets, and, of course, NPCs handing out quests like “kill 50 wolves just because.” The bravest adventurers will discover Herba, a village founded by refugees seeking shelter from the Crimson Family.
Level progression updates: 55 is the new 50
The level cap is now 55, bringing new field dungeons like the Temple of Truth and tougher field bosses.
Solo Dungeons – Because not everyone is a hardcore raider
The Hall of Illusion is the new solo dungeon that gives you a chance to learn mechanics before getting destroyed in 3-star dungeons. Here, the lore is literally art. Kailos, the curator of the Hall, wanted to create a world inside paintings. Whether you’ll make it out alive or end up looking like a badly drawn Picasso sketch remains to be seen.
3-Star Dungeons
For the PvE masters, it’s time to step up to the new 3-star dungeons. Some of the “you will suffer” locations include:
- Rancorwood: A forest where an ogre king has beef with humanity. Your job? Settle the score.
- Hall of Tragedy: Think of a cursed mansion filled with grotesque experiments.
- Chapel of Madness: Dark rituals, demonic seals, and an elder who thought “Hey, summoning an ancient curse sounds fun!” Enter only if you have 3,500 CP and a high tolerance for repair fees.
Weapon Mastery Revamp – Give the people builds!
The new mastery system allows customization of skills, with nodes that modify abilities and unlock passives. Expect to spend hours tweaking builds, only to realize the meta has changed the next day.
Nebula Island – Interserver PvP and salt in chat
This new PvPvE area brings six new regions, including four war zones and a peaceful zone for those who just want to farm without getting KS’d by a random. Essentially, it’s the battle royale of the expansion.
Artifact System – “Everyone gets buffs except you”
The Artifact System adds 14 new artifact sets, divided into common, uncommon, and rare tiers. These artifacts grant custom skills depending on the set you equip, offering new ways to min-max (or become a meme build).
Lifestyle Content – Because fishing is always meta
If you’re someone who prefers chilling over fighting bosses, you can now enjoy 24 new fish species, 10 new recipes, and a foraging system. The Amitoi Expedition feature lets you send your pet on missions to bring back rewards. Soon, everyone will have a pet doing more than the player themselves.
New Tier 2 Weapons – “Power creep, but make it subtle”
Tier 2 weapons come with new effects, making the already strong players even more OP. These weapons drop from boss fights and crafted gear via tokens.
Wilds of Talandre Free Drops:
- Twitch Drops: From March 6 to 19, gift two paid subs to Throne and Liberty streamers and get the Casual Chic outfit.
- Discord Quest: Play 15 minutes via Discord from March 6 to 12 and earn the Fuzzy Percy Amitoi and 200 Ornate Coins.
- Prime Gaming Bundle: Available from March 6 to April 9, including 300 Ornate Coins, 10 Resistance Contracts, and 5,000 Abyssal Contract Tokens.
Is it worth it?
If you left Throne and Liberty because of content drought, Wilds of Talandre is a solid comeback point. It brings new zones, dungeons, mechanics, and QoL updates that make it more engaging. If you’re a veteran, the new zone and PvP on *Nebula Island* will probably give you the challenge you’re looking for. If not, at least the fishing system is still there.
