Gaming Show to Remember – Like It or Not
The Game Awards 2024 celebrated 10 years of memes, trailers, and awkward speeches.
This year’s event had it all: half-finished jokes, epic fails, and an audience smashing their keyboards on Twitter (oops, I mean X).
With 4 million live viewers, it proved once again that gaming is the hottest trend on the planet.
Highlights: Moments That Made History (or Went Viral)
1. Harrison Ford: Indy Is Here (And Taller)
The 82-year-old legend Harrison Ford graced the stage to honor the new game “The Great Circle.” After teasing Todd Howard about his height, he presented the Best Performance award to Troy Baker, saying, “If I’d known you’d be this good, I’d have done the voice acting myself!”
2. Swen Vincke Roasts the Industry
Baldur’s Gate 3’s CEO Swen Vincke took the stage to say what everyone’s thinking. “Guys, instead of focusing on deadlines, how about making games that aren’t half-finished? Maybe make games for gamers, not for your CFO?”
Audience: standing ovation.
Publishers: heads down.
The roast of the year, no cap.
3. Flute Guy: Pedro Returns
Pedro Eustache, aka Flute Guy, was back, delivering solos that even Hans Zimmer would envy.
4. Arcane Comes Alive (Again)
A musical performance by 21 Pilots, D4VD, and Royal & The Serpent brought Arcane back into our hearts.
5. Hideo Kojima: From Stealth to Gas Snake
In a serious moment, Hideo… let loose a bit too much. The crowd burst into laughter, and Reddit was flooded with memes like: “Snake? Snake? GAS SNAKE!” Fun fact: he pretended like nothing happened.
6. Snoop Dogg: Gin, Gaming, and Stage Presence
Snoop Dogg delivered a live performance that stole the show. He also announced he’s working on his own game.
7. Game of the Year:
Astro Bot – The game that proves platformers never die.
