Fortnite OG is throwing a huge throwback with the Rocket Launch event, on July 26th at 2 PM ET.
And yes, it’s exactly what you’d imagine: a re-enactment of the Blast Off from Chapter 1, with countdown, audio, visuals, and all the “wow effects” of 2018, refreshed. And somewhere around here, thousands of players who had forgotten they had an account had a little heart attack. It’s time to re-enter OG island!
OG stands for Original Gamers
The Rocket Event is one of those live in-game events that we always remember with extreme nostalgia. Back when we didn’t know what collabs with Travis Scott and Ariana Grande were. Back when a simple rocket could crack the Fortnite sky and make history.
What we know (so far)
- The event will be live, just like before. No cinematic, no YouTube premiere. Live, in-game.
- The launch pad is there. Waiting.
- The countdown is on, the rifts will reopen, and yes, we might see Durr Burger blasted into space again.
- All of this marks the end of the season and the transition to OG Season 5, which is expected on August 7th.
Will anything change after the launch?
Nothing happens by accident. The rocket is not just a firework.
It leaves behind rifts, map changes, new POIs, and possibly… a meta shift.
Rumor has it that the Compact SMG is making a strong return, bringing with it more aggressive, close-combat gameplay. If OG gets more of a spotlight (which it will), we could see it in a future tournament.
Why should you care?
Because this event might be the last time you see something like this live.
Because Fortnite OG is not “just Fortnite” – it’s the mode that raised a generation of gamers.
And because… anyone who saw the first Rocket Event knows. Anyone who didn’t… has the chance to experience it now.
