The Armory: The New Store
Starting October 2, the The Armory is available in the CS2 Store through Steam. This new feature allows players to unlock credits by playing and redeem them for exclusive items. Once you activate the Armory Pass, you can start earning credits as you play.
So, what’s in The Armory? This update brings three brand-new skin collections:
- The Overpass Collection
- The Graphic Collection
- The Sport and Field Collection
Each collection features unique designs that explore various art styles and offers incredible weapon finishes for every taste.
The Armory also includes new Gallery Cases with 17 community-designed skins, giving community artists a place to ✨shine✨.
If you’re a fan of stickers, the two new Elemental and Craft Stickers collections will get you hyped. You can even make minor adjustments to their style before applying them to your weapons.
Charms in CS2: The Highlight of the Update!
The absolute star of the patch is the addition of Weapon Charms. Yep, those cute little trinkets that dangle off your gun that you’ve envied in Rainbow Six or Valorant are now making their debut in CS2. And the best part? Valve lets you place them wherever you want on your weapons!
The Armory includes 33 new charms divided into two collections:
- The Missing Link Collection: Tiny character figures with epic costumes.
- The Small Arms Collection: Miniature versions of in-game weapons in different colors.
These Charms are dynamic, meaning you’ll see them swaying as you land those headshots or… while you get taken down! When you buy a charm, you get three Charm Detachments, which allow you to switch your charm to different weapons.
New Weapon Collections and Stickers – A Collector’s Paradise!
The update brings over 100 new items, including three new weapon collections, the brand-new Gallery Case, and two new sticker collections.
Highlights:
- Overpass 2024 Collection: Featuring the AK-47 “The Monster” with iconic graffiti from the Overpass map.
- Graphic & Sport & Field Collections: Vibrant and stunning skins that you can unlock with Armory Pass credits.
- Gallery Case: With 17 incredible community-designed skins and a chance to grab the Kukri Knife.
- Elemental and Craft Sticker Collections: These stickers have customization options that let you edit and give your weapons a personal touch.
For hardcore collectors, the highlight is the Desert Eagle “Heat Treated”, which costs 25 credits and has a unique wear and pattern, reminiscent of the classic Case Hardened skins from the past.
Map Pool Updates: Italy is Back in Action!
The update doesn’t just bring new cosmetics but also changes to the competitive map pool.
Italy is back in the CS2 map pool alongside Office in the Hostage Group. While it’s not yet in Premier mode or featured in esports events, its addition hints that Valve is looking to expand the competitive map rotation.
The Community Reacts: Mixed Feelings About The Armory
As with any big update, this one had mixed reactions from the community. While many players are thrilled about the new cosmetics and customization options, others expressed dissatisfaction with the Armory Pass’s monetization model. Comparisons to Valorant’s Battlepass were inevitable, and the charge for Charm Detachments sparked some strong opinions.
Still, the addition of charms and new collections is a big win for those who love to decorate their loadouts. Whether you’re eager to hang that sausage charm on your M4 or want to test your luck with the new cases, the October Update has something for everyone.
