The G2 Esports managed to finally break their 10-loss streak against NAVI and clinch the Grand Final of the BLAST Fall Final 2024, securing a 3:1 victory and lifting the much-coveted trophy. But that’s not the only thing G2 shattered—NiKo also managed to shatter a table during a rage moment, adding to the chaos and drama of the event.
This win not only brings them the glory but also a spot at the upcoming BLAST Premier World Final 2024.
From NiKo’s Rage to Epic Plays
Heading into the final, G2 looked like the underdog. They had suffered multiple defeats against NAVI, and it seemed like history would repeat itself.
Although NiKo’s table-smashing incident in the semifinals went viral, it was malbsMd who stole the show, racking up 67 kills across the series and making history as the first Guatemalan player to win a major Counter-Strike trophy!
NAVI Couldn’t Complete the Comeback
NAVI came into the final with momentum, having just pulled off an impressive reverse-sweep against FaZe Clan.
They picked Ancient as their first map and seemed to have control in the first half. But G2’s defense held strong, securing a 13-9 victory.
The second map, Dust 2, was G2’s pick, and they made full use of it. Despite NAVI’s solid start, m0NESY and Snax found their rhythm and closed it out at 13-11.
However, NAVI didn’t back down and came back strong on the third map, Mirage. They managed to make an incredible comeback from 9-1 down to win 13-11, highlighted by one of the most unbelievable moments of the BLAST Fall Final 2024, where Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov pulled off a stunning 1v5 clutch. It was a moment that didn’t just change the outcome of one round but will be remembered as one of the greatest plays in CS2 history, proving why this 18-year-old is considered one of the brightest talents and a true game-changer for G2.
Inferno – The Final Showdown
Everything came down to Inferno. G2 started off strong, with NiKo and malbsMd hitting consecutive headshots. NAVI tried to fight back, but G2’s coordinated teamwork and clutch plays were too much to handle. With a final score of 13-7, G2 closed out the series, breaking their “curse” against NAVI and securing the trophy.
What’s Next for G2 and NAVI?
This win was more than just a trophy for G2—it was a statement. With NiKo laser-focused and the young talents m0NESY and malbsMd stepping up, G2 looks ready to dominate upcoming tournaments. Meanwhile, NAVI showed signs of fatigue after reaching five consecutive finals. Maybe a short break is exactly what they need before the BLAST Premier World Final and the next CS2 Major.
Either way, the BLAST Premier World Final 2024 promises to be another exciting event for CS2 fans.
