The IESF World Esports Championship 2024 is approaching, and Greece is ready for the ultimate challenge! With exclusive representation from Battlenet, our national team is determined to make its mark at the main event hosted in Saudi Arabia.
A Look Back at the Qualifiers and the Efforts of Get Going
A few months ago, Greece’s best teams in Counter-Strike and Dota 2 gathered at Battlenet Gaming Stations to compete for a spot on the global stage.
In Counter-Strike, the team Get Going advanced from the Greek Qualifier to the East European Qualifiers.
With a final roster of Gi0, Shwayyy, solaRo, zaklouta, and geo2k, they entered Group A, where they faced off against top teams from Turkey, Ukraine, Albania, and Armenia. Despite a 13-10 victory against Armenia, the team was unable to qualify for the main event, finishing 16th in the East European Qualifier. However, their journey showcased the strength of the Greek scene and put our country on the map.
The Big Opportunity for Greece’s Dota 2 Team
In Dota 2, our national team is aiming for the top!
The roster, featuring Georgios “SsaSpartan” Giannakopoulos, Anastasios “Focus” Michailidis, Dimitrios “Thug” Plivouris, Charalampos “Skylark” Zafeiriou, and Athanasios “Desire” Kartsampas, has already won over the experts by securing 3rd place in the European Qualifiers and is already ranked among the favorites to win!
The team enters Group D in Riyadh, ready to face Argentina, Kyrgyzstan, and South Africa. The big opening match against South Africa will take place on November 16, 2024, at the SEF Arena.
